Written in the 60's, the author could not publish this novel; he committed suicide in 1969 at the age of 32. His mother tirelessly tried to get it published, succeeding in 1980. Set in New Orleans, this book follows Ignatius Reilly as he is "catapulted into the frenzy of contemporary existence".
