Store Information

Where is The Midnight Oil located?
We’re at 827 10th Street, right in Downtown Greeley.

What are your store hours?
We’re open 7 days a week from 10 AM - 8 PM. The one exception is the last Tuesday of every month when we close at 5 PM for our book club and movie collaboration with The Kress Cinema.

Buying, Selling & Trading Books

Do you buy books?
We do not buy books, but we offer store credit for book trades from Monday–Thursday. Check out our trade-in program here.

Do you offer store credit for used books?
Yes! Store credit can be applied toward future purchases. See our trade-in policy for details.

Can I request a specific book if it’s not in stock?
Yes! If you’re looking for a used book, fill out our Wishlist form in-store. As books come in, we check our lists and reach out if we find your requested title.

For new books, we place orders weekly.

  • Orders placed by Sunday night go out Monday morning.
  • Half or full payment is required upfront.
  • Books typically arrive within 7-10 days, and we’ll notify you when they’re in.

Do you sell rare or collectible books?
Yes! We recently opened Belinda’s Book Bazaar, our collector’s room in the basement, currently open Saturdays from 5 PM - 8 PM. More titles are added online weekly, and as our inventory grows, we’ll expand the open hours.

Gift Cards & Loyalty Program

Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! We have digital gift cards (usable online and in-store) and physical gift certificates (for in-store use).

Do you have a loyalty program?
Not yet—but it’s something we’d love to implement in the future!

Online Orders & Shipping

Can I order books online?
Yes! You can:

  • Order directly from our website for pickup or shipping.
  • Order books through Bookshop.org or audiobooks through Libro.fm, both of which support our store with a percentage of sales.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all forms of payment, including cash in-store.

Do you offer shipping?
Yes!

  • $5 flat-rate shipping (Free on orders over $50).
  • Some items may have special shipping rates, which will be listed on the product page.

Can I pick up my online order in-store?
Yes! Select "Local Pick-Up" at checkout. (This does not mean free shipping to your house—just an in-store pickup option.)

How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email with tracking information.

What is your return policy for online orders?

  • If your order arrives damaged or is incorrect, we’ll replace it or offer a refund.
  • Used books are case-by-case for returns.
  • New book pre-orders and books released within the last 60 days are non-refundable unless damaged.

Events & Book Clubs

Do you host author events or book signings?
Right now, our space is too full for regular signings. BUT, if you’re Brandon Sanderson or a favorite author of our staff, exceptions might be made. 😉

What book clubs do you offer?
We host two book clubs every month:
📽 Last Tuesday: A book-to-movie club in collaboration with The Kress Cinema. Tickets are available on our website or at the store.
📖 Last Wednesday: An in-store book discussion—just show up and chat, no purchase necessary!

Can I host my book club or event at The Midnight Oil?
Yes! Our basement space is available for private book clubs and small events.

Do you collaborate with community events?
Yes! We’re always working on collaborations. Have an idea? Reach out to us!

Can you sell books at my event?
We offer pop-up book sales for venues and organizations of all sizes. If you’d like us to run a book fair or sell at your event, email greeleybookstore@gmail.com.

Store Policies

What is your return policy for in-store purchases?
Returns are case-by-case, but we’re usually pretty flexible. At the very least, we can offer store credit for another purchase.

Do you price match with online retailers?
Nope! Support indie bookstores. 🙂

Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! We offer a 10% discount (some exclusions apply, but 99% of the store qualifies).

Do you have seasonal sales?
Yes! We run Independent Bookstore Day, where we hide 100 Golden Tickets throughout the store. Find one, and you’re guaranteed at least a free used book—some winners get one free new book a month for a year!

Café & Food Policies

Do you have a café?
We’re working on it! Starting 2/23/25, we’ll be collaborating with a local coffee brand/cart every Friday and Sunday from 10 AM - 2 PM.

Can I bring outside food and drinks?
Yes! Just be mindful of the space and cleanliness.
