An original in the Beat Generation movement. Howl upon its release would gain national attention and propel Allen Ginsberg into his career. The City Lights publisher Lawrence Ferlinghetti would face trail for the book's obscenity but ultimately win. The case would become an important piece in the history of censorship and freedom of speech.
