Writing under one of his many pseudonyms, L. Frank Baum was tasked with writing a young adult series for young girls. Which led him to write the Aunt Jane's Nieces series, which had ten books in its run. The Aunt Jane's Nieces series would go on to be Baum's second most successful series after the Oz books.
